Royal Navy Terms and Conditions
- All students can enter as teams or individuals 14-16 in Year 10/11 or equivalent.
- Entries will be considered from all UK resident students.
- Students must supply a written statement of about 200 words as to why they wish to be considered for this competition, how they believe they would benefit, please include details on any engineering activities you have been involved in such as competitions, industrial visit etc.
- All entries will be considered by a selection panel, those chosen to attend will be notified within 24hrs of the selection date. Those note selected will be notfied shortly afterwards.
- Students selected to attend the events may bring a single accompanying adult which can be a parent, teacher or other suitable person.
- Students will work in teams of four on a number of hands on engineering projects and will be awarded points for successful completion of each challenge. All scores will be added together at the end of the day to find the overall winning team.
- The overall winning team will be invited to the National Finals in May the date will not interfere with exams and may be held on a weekend post exams.
- In addition to each overall winning team a number of places will be offered to students at the regional final whom the judges feel have shown a high standard of effort and capability.
- The national finals is likely to include an overnight stay, accommodation will be provided and assistance with travel costs will be available.
- Prizes will be awarded at both National Finals.
- The decision of the judges is final and binding.
- The organisers reserve the right to change the date of the events and the prizes, but will notify contestants accordingly in good time should this be necessary.
- The organisers reserve the right to publicise entries at their discretion, but will make full acknowledgement to the entrant and their school or college. Similarly it is expected that contestants, who are approached by the media, will make full acknowledgement to Young Engineers as organisers of the event.
- Young Engineers reserves the right to use any quotes, photos or statements of the students or accompanying adults participating in the competition in their publicity materials or press releases etc.
