AS AN ISLAND NATION THE SEA IS OUR LIFELINE AND THE ROYAL NAVY HELPS ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS PRECIOUS RESOURCE
The Royal Navy provides an essential service, ensuring a quick and flexible response to a variety of needs – from keeping open international sea trade lanes to helping rebuild communities devastated by war and natural disasters, such as hurricanes. Naval ships are also on constant alert against drug traffickers and terrorists who threaten the well-being and freedom of everyone. We must not forget that the Royal Navy is a presence that protects the nation and its interests throughout the world. There’s never been a time in world history that’s been completely free from conflict. In such a rapidly changing world, we have to be prepared for the unexpected.
COULD YOU HANDLE AN ENGINEERING CAREER THAT COULD TAKE YOU AROUND THE WORLD?
To deal with the most technologically advanced equipment in the world you need a head for theory and a nose for the solution. As an Engineer Officer in the Royal Navy you face the demands of looking after equipment ranging from state-of-the-art radar electronics and sonar systems to nuclear-power plants in submarines.
If you’re interested in a career as a Royal Navy Engineer, our bursaries for university students give you the chance to get paid while you study. As an engineering undergraduate we may offer you sponsorship of £4,000 per year. The Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme has support units at 5 Universities in the UK and sponsors undergraduates £5,500 per year.
Graduate salaries start at roughly 21k rising to over 32k after 2 years. As well as basic pay we offer extra money for special skills and qualifications.
